The fuel prices take effect at midnight and will remain the same for the next 30 days.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the maximum fuel prices for the September-October period.

In the review released on Tuesday, September 14, EPRA confirmed that the pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene remain unchanged.

"We have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th September 2026 to 14th October 2026. The maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene remain unchanged," the statement read in part.

In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Ksh214.03, Ksh217.86 and Ksh191.38 effective midnight for the next 30 days.

In Mombasa Super petrol will retail at Ksh210.87 per litre while Diesel and Kerosene will be sold at Ksh214.58 and Ksh188.09 per litre at the pump.

The new fuel prices includes the Value Added Tax (VAT), in line with the VAT Act, 2013 as read with Legal Notice No. 128 of 14th July 2026, the Finance Act, 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020. 

The taxes levied on Super, Diesel and Kerosene landed costs stood at Ksh73.86, Ksh64.07 and Ksh50.41 per litre respectively. Apart from taxes and levies, final fuel costs also include distribution and storage costs, retailer margins and subsidies.

The cost of Super petrol remained unchanged despite a 7.87 percent decrease in landed costs. Notably, the landed cost of a cubic metre of  diesel increased by 11.86 percent while Kerosene jumped by 9.71 percent.

EPRA assured the public of its continued commitment to observing fair competition and protecting of the interests of both consumers and investors in the energy and petroleum sectors.

In August, EPRA issued a fresh safety advisory to consumers purchasing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), urging them to obtain cylinders only from licensed dealers.

In a notice on Thursday, August 27, EPRA said buying LPG from authorised dealers is an important step towards protecting households, businesses and communities from risks associated with non-compliant operators.
