This comes a day after Equity Bank warned the public about a fabricated news graphic circulating online claiming that Equity Group Managing Director and CEO James Mwangi was attacked in the middle of the street.

The graphic presented the false claim in the style of a news report, giving the impression that the information originated from a legitimate media outlet.

In an update, Equity Bank dismissed the content as fake and urged members of the public not to rely on the claims contained in the graphic.

"A fake advert featuring Equity Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr. James Mwangi, is circulating online with fabricated claims," the bank said.

Equity Bank advised the public to verify information concerning Mwangi and Equity through its official communication platforms rather than relying on unverified content shared online.

"Please disregard it and rely only on information shared through Equity’s verified official channels," the bank added.
