"I was not fired from anywhere or by anyone, no institution I have worked for the last 16 years has ever fired me."

Renowned news anchor Ken Mijungu has clarified that he was not fired by Cape Media’s TV47.

In a statement on Monday, February 24, Mijungu said he has never been fired by anyone in the last sixteen years.

“I am a public figure hence I owe you duty whenever there is a misunderstanding. I was not fired from anywhere or by anyone, no institution I have worked for the last 16 years has ever fired me,” read part of the statement.

Mijungu shared an email to the Cape Media CEO where he asked to be given time off to reflect on his engagement with the company.

“I seek to make this request official. I have been at Cape Media for 3 weeks now trying to figure out how to fit and I honestly believe I am still unable to place my finger at it.

“This is compounded by the interactions I have had with my colleagues. Due to the forgoing reason, I kindly request you to extend me some time to figure this out,” the email stated.

However, in response, the Cape Media CEO terminated Mijungu’s contract with the media house.

“We acknowledge receipt of your email of February 21, 2025, in which you requested time off to reflect on your engagement with the Company.

“Having considered the matter, Management has taken the decision to revoke the Service Agreement dated 31 January 2025. This decision takes effect from the 22 February 2025,” the letter by Cape Media CEO read in part.

Mijungu joined Cape Media on February 7 days after he left the Standard Group. He was to commence his work at TV47 in mid-February.

Following the termination of his contract in the media house, Mijungu said he would concentrate on selling cars, leasing aircraft and cars as well as offering consultancy services.

“I am a consummate professional and a trained Lawyer. For now, I will concentrate on selling cars, leasing aircrafts and cars, consulting in various fields, and washing cars,” Mijungu added.
