Kenya’s Second Lady Mama Rachael Ruto has wished her daughter June Ruto all the best following her engagement to Dr. Alexander Ezenagu from Nigeria.

The Ruto family over the weekend hosted a delegation from Nigeria for an event dubbed ‘Koito’, where introduction was done and bride price negotiated.

In a series of tweets after the event, Mama Rachael Ruto noted that she was proud to see June take the next step in life, adding that her prayer is for God to bless their union.


“Every mother's joy is to share life’s family values, lessons and milestones with her daughter. My heartfelt congratulations, love and prayers to my daughter June on her new chapter. May God shine His light on your path,” she tweeted.

On her part, June noted that she was happy to finally meet “her better half”.

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord. I thank God for the blessings in this memorable moment. Today has been important day as I get my better half @AlexEzenagu Sincere thanks goes to my dad, mom, sister, friends and all relatives,” she posted.


June's fiancé Dr. Ezenagu is an Assistant Professor in the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar.

He is a trade and international tax law expert who has specialized in international tax law, domestic taxes, tax avoidance, and commercial aspects of illicit financial flows, trade, and investment advisory.

Following his engagement to June Ruto, the DP’s family and a delegation from Kenya is expected to visit Nigeria in future to formalize the union.
