Comedian and actor DJ Shiti is mourning the death of his father, Richard Ndede Mbanda, following a seven-year battle with cancer.
In an update on Thursday, September 17, the entertainer shared the news of his father’s death, revealing that he passed away on Wednesday morning.
DJ Shiti paid tribute to his late father while reflecting on the prolonged battle with cancer and expressing hope that the disease would eventually be defeated.
"My old man passed away yesterday morning after battling cancer for 7 years. One day, cancer will also die. Rest in power, Omwami Richard Ndede Mbanda," he wrote.

This comes a day after the Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairperson Francis Meja announced the death of his mother, Grace Tianoi Meja, who passed away on Monday, September 14.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 16, Meja mourned his mother while reflecting on the values and legacy she left behind for the family and those who knew her.
He described her as a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness and strength, saying her influence would continue to be felt by the family.
"She leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, kindness, humility, wisdom, and strength. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
"As a family, we draw strength from the beautiful foundation of love and values she built throughout her life," he wrote.
According to Meja, their matriarch will be laid to rest on Wednesday, September 23, at her home in Kimuka, Kajiado West, Kajiado County.
As the family prepares to bid her farewell, Meja said they would celebrate her life while holding on to the memories she left behind.
"As we mourn her passing, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the lasting memories she leaves in our hearts. May the Almighty God comfort the entire family, relatives, friends, and all who knew and loved her during this difficult time," he added.
Prior to that, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and his wife, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga, announced the death of their daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana.
The family announced Amal’s death on Sunday, September 13, saying she had been undergoing treatment at Gertrude's Children's Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
"It is with profound sorrow that the family of Hon. Senator Dr. Danson Mungatana and his wife, Hon. Mwanaisha Chidzuga, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announce the passing of their last-born daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana," the statement read.
According to the family, Amal had battled health complications since birth and had received medical care both locally and outside the country.
"Amal went to be with the Lord on Sunday 13th September 2026, while undergoing treatment at Gertrude's Children's Hospital, Muthaiga," the statement added.
The family said Amal’s health struggles had continued throughout her eight years, during which she underwent treatment in Kenya and abroad.
"Amal had struggled with her health since she was born 8 years ago, and received treatment both in Kenya and abroad," the statement further read.
