Kenya Airways has temporarily suspended flights to Comoros and Mayotte (France).
In a statement dated Saturday, December 14, the national carrier explained that the suspension was informed by the tropical Cyclone Chido which is expected to hit the islands of Comoros and Mayotte.
The cyclone is expected to be intense and cause storms in various countries.
Therefore, for safety reasons, Kenya Airways indicated that the flights scheduled over the weekend would be suspended.

"Government authorities in both countries have put out alerts in relation to the impact of the cyclone which is expected to last until Monday, December 16, 2024," read the statement in part.
"To ensure the safety of our staff and customers, our flights into Comoros and Mayotte have been temporarily suspended. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience this may cause. The safety of our customers and that of our staff is our number one priority."
Kenya Airways also announced that they would continue monitoring the situation before they resume flights to the two locations.
According to the plan, flights are scheduled to resume on Monday, December 16.
"Affected customers are advised to visit our website Flight Status (Kenya-airways.com) to confirm their new flight schedule or call our Customer Excellence Centre," the national carrier added.
