Former IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe has been appointed Chief of Peacebuilding Strategy and Partnerships at the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Her new assignment will also cover offices in Dakar, Senegal, and Nairobi, Kenya; serving 45 Country Offices.
She previously served as the Chief of Policy at the Policy and Mediation Division, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs at the United Nations in New York.
The New appointment comes days after she made her maiden visit to Kenya after five years of exile.
She fled Kenya in 2017 during which She also resigned as IEBC commissioner.

She claimed then that the IEBC then was under state capture leading to her resignation and exile due to fear of her security.
She previously served as the Chief of Policy at the Policy and Mediation Division, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs at the United Nations in New York.
She also previously worked with the African Union as an Economist.
Dr. Akombe is an advocate for the protection of human rights, social justice, environmental protection, and inclusion of youth and women in all political and socio-economic spheres of life.
Prior to her work with the African Union and the United Nations, she was active in the Kenyan student movement, civil society, and the women’s movement.
She continued this work in the United States with WomenRising Inc. focusing on economic opportunities for Black women.
Dr Akombe supports several causes dedicated to social justice and the full involvement of youth and women in all aspects of life.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi and a Masters's and Doctorate degree from Rutgers University.
Akombe was Born in Kenya in 1976 and is a mother of two.
