Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino now says that he cannot guarantee the government that there will be peaceful demonstrations.
In a statement via Twitter on Saturday, February 25, Babu stated that he can only promise the Kenya Kwanza government that demonstrations will take place.
“I can only promise that there will be demonstrations but I can’t promise whether they will be peaceful or not. Don’t dare us,” he stated.
His sentiments come a day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua warned the opposition against destroying any property or business when doing their demonstrations.
"You can't sell fear to us, even if it's free we don't want it. Continue with your protests but when you have finished go home peacefully. Don’t destroy anybody’s property in your protests. Do whatever you want, go to whatever place you desire and no one will touch you even the police. Do not touch any person's property, business, or goods. However, if you think you are man enough touch them,” Gachagua stated on Thursday, February 23 in Murang'a.
