Uhuru landed in the Bujumbura capital where he was received by high-ranking officials of the Burundian government.
The retired president is scheduled to grace the 11th edition of the Heads of State Summit on the state of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Uhuru is attending the summit in his capacity as the AU-Kenya Peace Envoy and Facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Peace Process.
The meeting is limited to heads of state whose countries are signatory to the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation for the DRC.
Uhuru's role in the Nairobi Peace Process began in November last year.
Noting Kenya's commitment in achievement of regional peace and security, President William Ruto announced his predecessor would take up the role.
The former president was appointed the peace envoy to Ethiopia and the Great Lakes Region by his successor.
The Head of State said that Kenya will support all the initiatives to end the conflicts in the region so as to bring peace and stability.
"Nairobi Peace Process will resume in a matter of days under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenya is fully committed and wholly invested in the achievement of regional peace and security. We will support all initiatives to end conflict and bring stability and prosperity to East Africa and the Great Lakes Region," President Ruto said at the time.
Uhuru has been leading efforts to realise peace in the eastern DRC where M23 rebels had been taking on the government troops.
