Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has vowed to oppose the Finance Bill 2023 despite Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s threat.
In a statement on Monday, June 5, Amollo stated that his obligation is to the constitution, voters, and the country.
The ODM MP argued that roads and other development projects are not meant for lawmakers but for Kenyans.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I will oppose the finance bill! My primary obligation is to the constitution, the voters & the nation; all require me to oppose. Roads & amenities are for Kenyans not MPs! The world of threats passed-by,” he stated.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday at a church service in Narok County stated that MPs opposing the Finance Bill should not expect to get funds for projects such as roads in their constituencies.
The second in command noted that the Kenya Kwanza government is relying on the Finance Bill to raise revenue and therefore MPs should support it.
“Some of you leaders are lying to Kenyans, but know that if your MP is opposed to the Finance Bill, they should not ask for roads,” Gachagua said.
