Lawyer Miguna Miguna has chided Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino after they accused International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor Karim Khan of being compromised after visiting Kenya last week.
Miguna in a statement on Monday, August 7 said the attack on Khan is malicious as the ICC chief prosecutor does not investigate cases personally.
“Azimio has no case at the International Criminal Court. The attack on Karim Khan, which you are fueling, is malicious. Cases are not assigned or investigated by the Chief Prosecutor personally,” he said.
Miguna also wondered why the Azimio leaders are against Khan’s visit to the country and questioned if the ICC prosecutor is not supposed to visit countries where he previously had clients from.
“Before Karim Khan represented William Ruto and Sang, he had successfully acted as counsel for Francis Muthaura. He has also represented many people around the world. Is Azimio suggesting that he should not visit any of the countries where his clients came from? On what basis would Mr. Khan be prevented from accepting an honorary degree?” Miguna posed.

Karua in a tweet on Sunday said Khan’s visit to Kenya raises the ICC’s credibility since both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza had written to the court over violence witnessed during anti-government protests.
“ICC prosecutor Karim Khan hosting in Kenya this weekend by Mount Kenya University & its founder a friend of his former client William Ruto at a time both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza regime have written to ICC on the situation in the country, especially the killing spree of unarmed protestors by police is not only suspect but also a blot on the credibility of ICC,” said Karua.
Babu on his part asked the ICC chief prosecutor to appoint other judges to investigate acts of police brutality during the anti-government demonstrations.
