After addressing the State of the Nation Address on Thursday, President William Ruto departed the country for Saudi Arabia.

President William Ruto is in Riyadh to attend the Saudi-African Summit that is set to be graced by various heads of State.

The President is said to have arrived in Riyadh on Thursday night during which he was welcomed by  His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - Deputy Governor of Riyadh.

The inaugural Saudi-Africa summit aims to enhance political coordination, address regional security threats, promote economic transformation through research and the local development of new energy solutions, and boost investment cooperation.

The inaugural Summit will be held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre.

African presidents who have arrived in Riyadh include Nigeria's Bola Tinubu, Eritrea's Isaias Afwerki, Gabonese interim President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and  Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

Other presents are Mauritius President Prithvirajsing Roopun, Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine.

The first Saudi-Africa Summit seeks to support joint action, enhance political coordination, address regional security threats, and facilitate economic transformation.

This is through research and the local development of new energy solutions while bolstering cross-sectoral investment cooperation.
