A section of Kisii leaders engaged in a vicious exchange of words at a press conference over the arrest of Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakango on Tuesday, December 5.
The clash started after Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba absolved President William Ruto from the controversial arrest of Nyakango in Mombasa.
Orwoba rubbished earlier sentiments made by a section of Azimio lawmakers insisting that Ruto did not orchestrate the arrest of the Controller of Budget.
“Whatever is happening is not any doing of the president and if you have noticed any time something is being cooked by those people who think they have powers around our party leader, they always wait for him to leave the country. We have seen it,” Orwoba stated.

“I am a Kenya Kwanza nominated senator, especially elected by my party under my party leader, His Excellency William Ruto, and I want to speak authoritatively today. I have told my colleagues here, and I will continue to say it to the Gusii Community," she added.
However, Kitutu Chache MP Antoney Kibagendi interrupted her speech accusing Orwoba of siding with Ruto despite instigating Nyakango's arrest.
"You cannot defend the President. The President is involved, and he has been attacking our community. He knows we cannot allow that," Kibagendi argued.
The Kitutu Chache MP then walked out of the press conference accompanied by other legislators affiliated with Azimio la Umoja.
After the lawmakers walked out, Orwoba appealed to President Ruto to intervene over the charges levelled against Nyakango.
The Controller of Budget was arrested in Mombasa on Tuesday, December 5. She was accused alongside 10 other individuals of conspiracy to defraud, operating a Sacco without a permit, forgery, and uttering a false document.
Nyakango pleaded not guilty to the charges and was freed on a Ksh500,000 cash bail.
