President William Ruto has mourned the tragic loss of World record holder Kelvin Kiptum.
Kiptum and his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana died in a tragic road accident Sunday night in Kaptagat area along the Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine road.
The world record holder died at the age of 24 years. Kiptum’s world record marathon time of 2:00:35 set in the Chicago Marathon in October 2023 was ratified just days ago by World Athletics.
The Head of State described Kiptum as a rising star who broke barriers to secure a marathon record.
