Police officers have been left in shock after finding over 2,500 pieces of ammunition stashed in small packets by a couple.
In a report filed by the National Police Service on Thursday, April 18, the law enforcement officers ambushed the said couple, Josphat Maina Karanja and Teresiah Wairimu, and ransacked their home where they found the bullets.
They raided their home within the Minjore area, Kirima Sub County where they counted 2,658 ammunitions.
"Police in Laikipia yesterday April 17, 2024 nabbed 2, 658 rounds of ammunitions from the home of one Josphat Maina Karanja within Minjore area, Kirima Sub-County," the NPS statement read in part.

"The owner Josphat Karanja was also arrested together with his wife Teresiah Wairimu, during the raid," it added.
According to police, the members of the public tipped them off after noticing fishy activities leading to the ambush.
"The National Police Service thanks the members of the public for the success of this intelligence-led operation."
By the time of this publication, the National Police Service had not explained why the couple had stored the ammunition at their home.
This comes days after police recovered two firearms on different occasions. In one incident, the police engaged a gang in a fierce gunfight before neutralising them and recovering a firearm and rounds of ammunition.
Two members of the said gang were arrested while two others escaped with serious gunshot injuries.
