The Azimio la Umoja coalition has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Kenya Kwanza government to resolve the ongoing doctors’ strike.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, May 8, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the opposition coalition will join the health workers on the streets if the government fails to resolve the standoff.
"We, ask the Kenya Kwanza regime to take advantage of the 48-hour window given by the courts and immediately reach an agreement with doctors that will see a resumption of normalcy in public hospitals, failure to which, we shall mobilize the public and other unions to join in a national strike,” Kalonzo threatened.
At the same time, Kalonzo demanded that the government to increase allocation to households affected by floods in Nairobi.

The Wiper Party Leader said the Sh 10,000 allocation announced by President William Ruto is too little for victims to start afresh.
“We demand that the government increases financial support to at least Sh 100,000 per family and immediately launch an emergency aid appeal for all the flood victims in Kenya,” said Kalonzo.
The former Vice President also demanded the government to deploy necessary responses for mitigating the impact of flooding on affected communities and providing assistance.
“We demand that this government adopts protective measures of early warning and facilitation relocation of communities and imminent risk of being affected by floods and floods and adhere to disaster management strategies,” Kalonzo added.
Further, Kalonzo called on the select committee investigating Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi to uphold his impeachment.
