“Residents and travelers should prepare for wet conditions."

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in some regions over the weekend.

In a weather forecast on Friday, May 17, the Met Department said the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions will experience rains.

The weatherman noted that the Northwestern region of Kenya may experience rainfall from Monday, May 20, 2204.

“Continued rainfall is likely over the Central Highlands, including Nairobi, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions. Northwestern Kenya may receive rainfall from Monday, 20th May,” read the forecast in part.

According to the Met department, the rest of the country is expected to remain generally dry over the weekend.

The weatherman also warned of strong southerly and southeasterly winds of over 25 knots (12.5 m/s) expected in the Eastern half of the country and the Northwestern region.

The department urged Kenyans and travelers to prepare for wet conditions and to be cautious of the strong southerly winds.

“Residents and travelers should prepare for wet conditions in the Central Highlands, including Nairobi, Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions. Be cautious of strong winds in the Eastern and Northwestern regions,” the weatherman added.
