Thika Town Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a has blamed Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for the Kiganjo market incident that left several people injured.
Chaos erupted after Ng'anga' and Kamenu Ward MCA Peter Mburu disagreed over the construction of the Sh55 million Kiganjo market in Kamenu Ward, with both leaders claiming credit for the project.
The conflict led to stone-throwing between Ng'ang'a's and Mburu's supporters.
Police officers were forced to fire teargas to quell the escalating violence between the two factions.
In a statement on Saturday, May 17 night, Nga’nga alleged that the Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi used the Kamenu MCA to cause chaos in the event.

“It is deeply regrettable that, despite successful lobbying for Kiganjo Market and extensive public involvement, the residents of Kiganjo are being denied their rightful share due to poor leadership.
“How long will Governor Wamatangi, through his associates, Kamenu MCA, and liaison officers, continue to undermine National Government projects? Paying young people to throw stones, injuring several police officers, ACC, and other leaders, is extremely backward. The people of Kiambu deserve better,” the Thika Town MP stated.
Ng’ang’a asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch investigations into the incident and bring the culprits into book.
“I urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to act swiftly and investigate the events that occurred in Kiganjo this evening. It is time to prioritize the welfare of the people; incitement and political confrontations must become a thing of the past,” she added.
Ng’ang’a had led MPs Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), and Elijah Njoroge (Gatundu North) in launching the market.
