The accident involved a matatu from the 3NT Sacco and a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.

Six people have been confirmed dead after being involved in a gruesome road accident along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.  

The accident happened on Monday, May 20 afternoon involving a 16-seater matatu from the 3NT Sacco and a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.

Reports indicate that the driver of the trailer, which was heading to Nakuru, lost control and rammed into an oncoming matatu that was heading to Eldoret.

Six passengers died on the sport while several others were injured during the nasty accident.

The bodies of the six passengers have been moved to the Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

The injured passengers on the other hand were taken to Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital for immediate medical care.

The accident comes a day after nine passengers were killed after the matatu they had boarded plunged into the Mbagathi River.

According to the police, the driver of the Naboka Sacco vehicle which plies the Ongata Rongai-Nairobi route lost control seeing it overturn into the river.
