On Tuesday, Cyclone IALY hit the Kenyan coast leaving several houses destroyed and electric posts down.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has disclosed that cyclone IALY that hit the Kenyan coast has weakened to a moderate tropical storm.

In an update on Wednesday, May 22, the weatherman, however, maintained that the cyclone remains significant due to its intensity near the equator.

Kenya Met predicted that the rain, stormy conditions, and strong winds were anticipated and warning that the coastal region should prepare for waves greater than 3 meters.

The weatherman intimated that as the cyclone continues to weaken, it is expected to disappear completely by Wednesday morning.

"IALY is experiencing rapid weakening and is expected to dissipate completely by Wednesday morning while remaining offshore. The residual vortex is unlikely to persist long enough to cross the equator," Kenya Met stated.
