Slueths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects, among them a former Kenya Navy officer, over a series of tuktuk and motorcycle thefts in Ruai and Kamulu areas.
In a statement by DCI on Thursday, June 6, the three, Peter Kamau Muniu (former Kenya Navy officer), Timothy Irungu Karimi and Antony Maina Njoroge, were apprehended after an operation by Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) officers.
"Peter Kamau Muniu, Timothy Irungu Karimi and Antony Maina Njoroge have been arrested in the wake of escalating cases of motorcycle theft in Ruai and Kamulu areas, thanks to teams from DCI Hqs Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and DCI Ruai," DCI stated.
The trio was arrested after a report of a stolen tuktuk on Wednesday.
"The three who are believed to be the architects of the illegal dealings were pursued and arrested following a tuktuk theft report by the devastated owner, who parked it on Tuesday night after work but found it missing the next day," DCI remarked.

After an intelligence-led operation, the DCI sleuths seized the tuktuk within the homestead of the former Kenya Navy officer.
"Taking up the matter, the officers conducted an intelligence-led operation in Kamulu, recovering the said tuktuk reg. no. KTWB 975T within the homestead of Peter Kamau Muniu (a former Kenya Navy officer) with the other two suspects in the process of dismantling it," DCI added.
At the scene, the detectives also recovered a motorcycle and a Nissan Wingroad, believed to be used in distributing the dismantled parts.
The suspects were detained at the Ruai Police Station.
DCI noted that two other suspects went large during the operation and they are being sought by the DCI detectives.
