Four passengers have been confirmed dead after the bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident on Friday, June 14 morning at the Gof Chopa area along the Marsabit-Moyale Highway.
The bus which is registered under Soores Sacco was traveling from Nairobi to Moyale via Marsabit when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the bus lost control and veered off the road before it overturned. As a result, the four passengers were killed on the spot while 41 others were injured.
Marsabit County Police Commander Nyambu Mwakio confirmed the accident noting that the deceased were two men a woman and a young girl.
Mwakio also disclosed that the police launched investigations into the accident.

The injured were rushed to the Marsabit County Referral Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the same facility's morgue.
Marsabit Governor Mahamud Ali in a statement via X said he was saddened by the Friday morning accident.
He sent his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured passengers a quick recovery.
“We mourn the loss of 4 lives and are deeply concerned for the 41 injured. I visited the hospital to check on the injured and am proud of our staff at Marsabit County Referral Hospital for their excellent work.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families, and I wish a swift recovery to the injured. My government is committed to providing all necessary assistance,” the Marsabit Governor stated.
