Weatherman Warns of Extreme Temperatures in These Regions

The Kenya Met Department has released its weather forecast report for the next seven days. 

In a statement on Monday, June 17, the weatherman disclosed that rainfall will be expected in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and the Coast while the rest of the nation will remain dry.

In the forecast, the Met Department warned of extreme temperatures of over 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions.

"Rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast. The rest of the country is likely to be generally dry. High average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in some parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western," the Met Department stated.

However, the weatherman noted that intermittent cold and cloudy conditions were expected over some parts of the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.

Additionally, the Met Department intimated that some parts of the highlands east of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley will experience low nighttime temperatures of below 10°C.

Strong winds are also expected in some parts of the country.

"Strong southerly to south-easterly winds at speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and Northwestern Kenya," the Met Department stated.

In the last forecast, most parts of the country were generally dry, with rainfall being recorded in a few regions in the highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Coast.
