At least nine people were killed and scores others injured on Saturday evening, June 29, after a matatu was involved in a road accident at Ratili area along the Narok-Bomet highway.
According to reports, the driver of the matatu lost control of the vehicle after one of its tyres burst before it rolled several times, killing nine people on the spot.
The vehicle was travelling in the direction of Bomet from Narok before the incident happened.
Among those who lost their lives were six men, two women, and a child.
Two other passengers were seriously injured and rushed to Longisa Referral Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were rushed to the mortuary of the same facility.

The incident comes days after six people were killed on Saturday evening, June 22, after a lorry veered off the road in Timau, Meru County, along Meru-Nanyuki road, knocking down several pedestrians.
Buuri West Sub-County Police Commander Laura Imbacha, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle before hitting the pedestrians.
"On reaching the location of the accident, the driver lost control. He knocked down several pedestrians and the lorry landed in a ditch. As a result, four male adults and two juveniles died on the spot and several pedestrians were rushed to unknown hospitals by good samaritans," Imbacha told the press.
