Boni Khalwale’s speech on opulence and wastage in government has ignited a debate on social media.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s speech on opulence and wastage in government has ignited a debate on social media.

Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, July 3, Khalwale called for an overhaul of the Kenya Kwanza government following the recent outrage from members of the public.

Khalwale urged President Ruto to dissolve the Cabinet and disband offices outside the 2010 constitution including the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and that of the First Lady.

The UDA Senator also asked Ruto to get rid of some of his advisors and restructure the security organs.

“Mr President dissolve Cabinet, reconstitute it, disband offices outside the constitution including CASs, Prime Cabinet Secretary, offices of first ladies and advisors. If advisors are useful then what David Ndii is doing is not advice it is misadvising. The President should quickly restructure the security organs by firing people the IG included,” Khalwale stated.

The Kakamega Senator further slammed government officials and MPs over their lavish donations during functions.

“I offended someone I didn't name in Kakamega over the weekend regarding the issue of opulence. I questioned how an MP could donate Ksh 20 million at a Harambee, which upset him greatly," Khalwale added.
