The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced a shortlist of eight candidates for the positions of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

In a notice on Friday, July 19, the NPSC disclosed that four candidates were shortlisted for the DIG Kenya Police Service (KPS), while four were shortlisted for the DIG Administration Police Service (APS).

“The following eight candidates have been shortlisted and scheduled to appear before the Commission for interviews on Monday, 22nd July 2024 as indicated here below,” read part of the notice by the NPSC.

Among the candidates shortlisted for the DIG-KPS position is acting Deputy IG Eliud Kipkoech Lagat.

Lagat was shortlisted for the position alongside George Adero Sedah, who is the Homa Bay Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

Others shortlisted in the position are Homa bay AIG Tom Mboya Odero and Bungoma AIG Dr. Vincent Kinas Makokha.

Lagat will be interviewed on Monday, July 22, at 10:15 a.m., while Sedah will be interviewed at 9:30 a.m. on the same day.

The other two candidates, Odero and Makokha, would later follow at 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., respectively.

In the DIG-APS position, the four candidates shortlisted were acting DIG-APS James Mukuha Kamau, Bungoma AIG Gilbert Masengeli, his Kirinyanga counterpart Margaret Nyambura, and Kwale S/AIG Dr. Masoud Mwinyi.

“The interviews will be conducted at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus, Nairobi. The candidates should appear for the interview in No.1 uniform," NPSC stated.

The commission asked the public to submit any information relating to the shortlisted candidates through written memoranda to the Chairperson of the NPSC before Monday, July 22.

The DIG positions fell vacant after reorganisation in the police service following the resignation of former IG Japhet Koome and the redeployment of former DIG-APS Noor Gabow.
