Johnson Muthama and Kajiado Senator Ledama Ole Kina were denied access to Mike Sonko  at Gigiri police station

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has called out Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka after the latter asked president Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive Mike Sonko for abusing him.

Speaking during the first memorial service of former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi in Kabarak Nakuru County, Kalonzo pleaded with the President to forgive Mike Sonko promising to mentor him once he was done with his drama.

"Mheshimiwa rais nakuomba uniachie huyo kijana wetu anaitwa Mike Mbuvi Sonko amekutusi sana. Tunaomba msamaha. Akimaliza hizi episodes we will yet mentor him. Usiyashikilie hayo maneno," Kalonzo requested Uhuru.

However, Muthama appeared to have been irked by Kalonzo's request to Kenyatta calling it a 'joke.'

The former senator questioned why Kalonzo would be pleading with the President when it's the law that gets applied for anyone in Kenya to be arrested unless it was not the case in Sonko's arrest.

Muthama told off Kalonzo for making such reckless statements advising him to stop.

"We listened yesterday to some of the leaders who were attending Moi's memorial service, Jokingly someone stands and tells the Head of State that I want to beg you to forgive Sonko, we know he has abused you and we ask you to forgive him and hand him over to us. That's a big joke.

"I don't think Sonko is here because it's the President who said bring him here, he has no capacity to order for anybody to be arrested. The president does not have any right to order anybody to be arrested and charged, It's the law that gets to be applied for anyone to be arrested. If Sonko is here because of what Kalonzo said, then the law is not being applied in the right way. If he is here because he broke the law, then he deserves to be here," Muthama stated.
