President William Ruto on Friday, July 19 named the first batch of Cabinet nominees in the new broad-based government.
The Head of State retained six Cabinet Secretaries who served in the recently dismissed cabinet.
The six include; Kithure Kindiki (Ministry of Interior), Aden Duale (Ministry Defence) Davis Chirchir (Ministry of Transport and Roads), Soipan Tuya (Ministry of Environment), and Alice Wahome (Lands and Public Works).
Rebecca Miano who previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Trade has been nominated as the new Attorney General.
The nominees will undergo fresh vetting in the National Assembly before being sworn into office.

President Ruto noted that he is still consulting to form a balanced cabinet and internal processes across various sectors are underway to facilitate the appointments.
“I will be issuing next week a clear road map on the assignment that the new cabinet is going to have with clear timelines and deliverables for us to harness the tremendous potential that exists in our nation and drive our country to greatness,” Ruto stated.
On July 11 the Head of State dismissed all Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General Justin Muturi from the government.
Ruto only retained Prime Cabinet Secretary and Secretary for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi.
