Justifying why he should be reappointed in the Interior docket, Kithure said that he had kept the country fairly safe during his tenure.
"I believe I’m suitable for reappointment because, during those 21 months in office, I've been able to keep the country fairly safe, especially in the fight against terror and also, the crime of banditry has reduced by more than 75%," he stated.
At the same time, Kindiki told Parliament that if he is re-appointed to the Interior Ministry, he would spell out designated areas for Kenyans to protest, picket, and present petitions.
The vetting panel put Kithure to task on the handling of protesters in the recent wake of the deadly anti-government protesters and deployment of KDF.
"The calling of KDF was a precaution because the criminals who burnt Parliament were also threatening to burn State House. If that was not reason enough to put KDF on standby legally, I don’t think any other situation would have met the threshold," remarked the CS nominee.
