The State Department for Foreign Affairs has organised a concert in solidarity with the citizens of Haiti as Kenyan security agencies lead a peacekeeping mission in the Caribbean nation.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 7, the department said the event, which is dubbed Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival, will be held on August 24.

According to the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing'oei,  the concert will help Kenyans and Haitians connect with the mission.

"Together with Africa For Haiti, we came up with this idea of a cultural event, a set of cultural initiatives to generate solidarity from the bottom in support of this deployment so that Kenyans and Haitians can connect with this mission," Sing'oei remarked.

He maintained that the mission had seen substantial progress, with Kenyan forces playing a pivotal role in supporting the Haitian government and maintaining security.

The event will also feature cultural exhibitions and a panel discussion on the historical and cultural ties between Haiti and Africa.

"Africa and Haiti share deep historical and cultural ties. This event aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and Africa, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation," the department stated.
