The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has approved the nomination of Dorcas Oduor as Attorney General and Beatrice Askul as Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, August 14, Minority Leader Junet Mohamed disclosed that the committee approved the nomination of the duo after consideration of the findings of its report.
"Taking into consideration the findings of the committee on appointments on vetting of nominees for appointment as Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development and the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya, this house approves the appointment of the following persons: Beatrice Askul Moe as Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development and Dorcas Agik Oduor as the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya," Junet remarked.
Oduor and Askul were the last of President William Ruto's new broad-based cabinet to be vetted by the committee.

They now await the approval of their names by the House plenary before forwarding them to the Head of State for appointment.
On August 8, President Ruto presided over the swearing-in of 19 Cabinet Secretaries as they took the oath of office at State House, Nairobi. This was after their approval by Parliament.
Meanwhile, the appointments committee previously rejected the nomination of Stella Lang'at as the Cabinet Secretary for Gender.
President Ruto is yet to fill the position after the move by the vetting committee.
