Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has congratulated Dorcas Oduor after she took the oath of office as the new Attorney General.
In a statement on Tuesday, August 20, Karua said Oduor was up to the task and wished her well as she takes up the role.
“Congrats Dorcas Oduor on being sworn in as the first female Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya, go on and shine you are equal to the task,” said Karua.
Oduor was sworn into office on Tuesday morning at an event at State House, Nairobi. She now takes over from Justin Muturi who President Ruto appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.
Speaking after Oduor took the oath of office, President William Ruto expressed confidence that Oduor will deliver in position and make the country proud.

"I am very confident and clear that you will not only make us as a country proud but also you will demonstrate what has always been said that what a man can do, maybe a woman can do better. Many people will be watching,” Ruto stated.
Oduor on August 9 appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments and was vetted for the AG position.
During the vetting, Oduor said she would be a responsible Attorney General if approved by the National Assembly. She promised to walk with Kenyans to realize the aspirations of the Constitution of Kenya.
"I will be a responsive Attorney General and a lawyer of the people and I hope the office of Attorney General will walk with all people of Kenya in realizing our aspirations under the constitution," Oduor stated.
Before becoming the Attorney General, Oduor served as the Secretary of Public Prosecution at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Oduor has a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL. B) and a postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
