Several passengers are feared dead and others injured following a tragic road accident involving a school bus in the Gitaru area of Kiambu County on the night of Thursday, August 22.
In photos and videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the school bus had overturned and was severely damaged as members of the public joined in the rescue efforts.
The bus is reported to have been involved in a collision with a trailer before it veered off the road and landed in a ditch.

At the time of the accident, the vehicle was not carrying students, but passengers who had hired its services.
As of the time this article was published, the exact number of passengers on board had yet to be confirmed.
The incident comes just moments after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) urged road users to be careful ahead of school reopening.
The authority noted that motorists, school management and parents have a responsibility to ensure the safety of students.
“Private motorists, public service vehicle operators, school management and parents/guardians have an enormous responsibility of ensuring the safety of our children.
“Previously, we witnessed violations that in some instances resulted in both fatal and serious injuries. We call upon all motorists to play their part as road safety is a shared responsibility,” NTSA stated.
