Four members of the Kenya Coast Guard Service were rescued after their boat capsized at Ndere Island in Lake Victoria.
The officers were on patrol in the water body when their vessel developed mechanical complications, causing sudden water ingress.
According to KCGS, the victims were on their way to the Kisumu station coming from Siaya and Homabay when the accident occurred.
Their colleagues collaborated with the officers from BMU and KWS at Ndere Islands to save them in an eight-hour mission.
The wreckage of the vessel was, however, yet to be found at the time of this publication.

"All officers are currently receiving medical attention and are in stable condition. The swift coordination among the BMUs and agencies involved exemplified the highest standards of maritime safety, making sure that the officers were rescued," KCGS said in a statement.
In such an accident last year, two Kenyan MPs were rescued after going missing in the Tana River.
Garsen MP Ali Wario and his Galole counterpart Hiribae Said Buya were reported missing together with 16 other people while returning from a food distribution exercise in Tana Delta.
Tana River County Commissioner Mohammed Noor disclosed that the team was tracked down in the middle of Tana Delta by a skilled team.
The ODM party has also confirmed the rescue of the two MPs, their aides, and MCAs who were on board.
"We are pleased to announce that our MPs Ali Wario Shaka of Garsen, his Galole counterpart Hiribae Saidi and Posta and Nominated MCA Mama Aodho Omara and other passengers on the boat that went missing last night have been rescued and are safe and sound," ODM stated.
