At least eight people were injured on Thursday night, September 19, after a deadly fire consumed 160 homes at Muslim area in Kawangware, Nairobi.
Confirming the incident, Kenya Red Cross disclosed that the fire was successfully contained with the help of the locals.
The humanitarian organisation further disclosed that it attended to the individuals who sustained injuries due to the inferno.
"Following the fire incident in Kawangware, the blaze was successfully contained with the support of local residents. Unfortunately, 160 homes have been completely destroyed. The Kenya Red Cross has attended to 8 casualties," Kenya Red Cross remarked.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The incident comes a few days after another nigh fire destroyed 100 households at Mukuru Kwa Njenga near Muhindi Mweusi in Nairobi County.
In an update by Kenya Red Cross, the fire was contained in a joint effort with Nairobi County Fire Brigade, Kenya Police and community-based disaster responders.
One individual received immediate medical attention at the scene of the fire, where emergency responders provided necessary care.
"Fire contained, thanks to the County Fire Brigade, Kenya Police, Community-Based Disaster Responders and Kenya Red Cross. Approximately 100 households have been affected and one person was attended to at the scene," the Kenya Red Cross stated.
