Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed claims that ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko paid him to negotiate for his release from prison.
Speaking during an interview with a local media house, Kalonzo noted that he requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to pardon Sonko because he is a son of Ukambani.
According to Kalonzo, he was irked by Sonko’s remarks, adding that he is ready and willing to work with and mentor Sonko once he is released from custody.
“He is a son from Ukambani… Sonko made very unacceptable remarks about the President and so as his elder I felt obligated to apologize to President Uhuru Kenyatta and I asked His Excellency to allow me to groom Sonko.
"I am not a 'kitu kidogo' kind of person and Kenyans know me, I never involve myself with bribery. No matter how difficult a situation may be, my loyalty cannot be bought," Kalonzo said.

Meanwhile, Sonko was on Tuesday set free by a Kiambu court after pleading not guilty to assault related charges.
The court freed the former Nairobi Governor on a Sh300,000 bond with surety of a similar amount.
While making the ruling, the court noted that the prosecution failed to convince it on why Sonko should be denied bail in the case.
In as much as Sonko has been released by the Kiambu Court, he is not a free man yet as he still has other charges to answer to in a separate court.
The ex-Nairobi governor who is currently hospitalised due to stomach complications is expected to be presented at the Kahawa Law Courts to answer to charges relating to terror planning and financing once his medical status improves.
