965,501 candidates in 10,565 centres are sitting for their KCSE examination.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has raised an alarm over an emerging trend on social media amidst the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

In various posts on its official X handle, KNEC flagged various social media accounts that were leaking exam papers.

One notable trend identified in the scam was that the accounts were opened using the logo and name of the examination body.

Additionally, the accounts were most predominant on TikTok and WhatsApp.

Consequently, parents and candidates were advised against falling into the scams given that the examination body could not leak exams.

Earlier, KNEC and relevant government agencies had warned of serious action against teachers, parents and students who engage in cheating.

“The government shall have no mercy on anyone who will be found engaging in examinations malpractices. When we compromise our examination, we compromise the standards of our certificates,” Education CS Julius Ogamba warned.

KCSE officially started on Tuesday, October 2022 with students sitting for the French and Music practicals.

965,501 candidates in 10,565 centres are sitting for their KCSE examination while 1,303,913 candidates will undertake their Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) from Monday, October 28.
