Some of the resolutions reached by the Senators included the compensation of victims and their families.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has directed respective committees of the House to file reports on the implementation of the resolutions that were made by Senators after the Finance Bill protests.

In a communication to the House on October 29, Kingi instructed the chairpersons of the committees to table a report by Thursday, October 31.

Kingi, in his address, noted that the committees were to follow various resolutions that were made pertaining to the deaths and abductions during the protests.

For instance, Senators had resolved that the National Police Service should apologise for the loss of lives that were witnessed during the protest.

"To the concerned Committees that have been tasked with the implementation of these resolutions, you have between now and Thursday to tale reports on the status. No chairman of this Committees will be allowed to transact any business other than this," Kingi directed.

The expected reports will also cover the progress of the compensation of victims and families.

"The Senate resolved that the National Police Service extend amnesty to all peaceful protestors who were unlawfully detained during the peaceful protest," read the communication in part.

"Senate also resolved to call upon the Director of Public Prosecution to withdraw all the cases in court involving peaceful protestors against the Finance Bill."

Other resolutions pertained to the reduction of the size of government appointees and the status of the country's debt.
