Lands and Public Works CS Alice Wahome has fired back at Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu over claims that she does not have power in the ministry.
In a statement on Sunday, November 10, the CS said she is more interested in service delivery and asked the Senator to keep her off his politics.
"Joe Nyutu, Senator, Murang’a County, I have just arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan for COP29. I’m here for various high level meetings on behalf of the Country. I have watched you on a church platform talking about ‘power.’
"I am more interested in service delivery and governance and not power. I don’t know who sent you to talk about me but kindly do not drag me into your politics," CS Wahome wrote on X.
Speaking during a church function at PriestHood Fellowship Church in Kahawa West on Sunday, Nyutu said that Wahome has no power in her ministry despite being the CS.

The Senator claimed that the ministry is run by the Principal Secretary who has no respect for her.
"Although Alice Wahome is a Cabinet Secretary, she has no power in that ministry; all the power lies with the PSs, who have no respect for her," Nyutu said.
This comes a week after Wahome failed to appear before the Senate due to health issues.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi said CS Wahome had recently undergone eye surgery and experienced complications that prevented her from attending the scheduled Senate session.
The speaker specifically mentioned that CS Wahome suffered from swollen eyes, which made it impossible for her to appear before the Senate as planned.
"We expected two CSs this morning for purposes of answering questions. However, I have since received a communication from CS Lands that she will not be able to attend today’s session to respond to questions concerning her ministry because she is indisposed.
“I had a phone call discussion with a principal secretary in the ministry who explained what the problem is. The CS underwent eye surgery three days ago and was willing to appear today but woke up with a swollen eye this morning. She cannot even see and that is why she registered her regrets that she will not be able to be with us today," Kingi said.
