Embakasi East MP Banu Owino has issued an update on blogger Maverick Aoko's whereabouts after her X account was deactivated.
In a social media post on X on Wednesday, November 13, the MP said he had communicated with Aoko and she was safe.
"Maverick Aoko is safe, nothing to worry about. I talked to her yesterday," the MP said.

"I have insisted that whoever was tweeting on Aoko's account is not her. We asked for proof of life period at the time of these tweeting, account is deactivated! We would still want to know how she is doing and where she is," an X user demanded.
The deactivation came about four days after Aoko put up a post explaining that she was doing well and was under the care of her family.
"Your clamor, fervor, noise, agitation, and prayers kept air in my lungs and blood in my heart. Asante for every tweet, retweet, call, concern, message, and voice that spoke out for me. The flesh is indisposed, thanks to their 'hata sisi tunajua kusalimiana.' Grateful that I am getting adequate care," she remarked.
In the statement shared on Friday, November 8, Aoko also stated that an aide who had been posting on the account had her unreserved permission and that of her family.
"Babu knows of this aide, has met them in person too. I comprehend your misgivings on politicians, Lord knows I've had my extreme share of unpalatable experiences with them.
"Albeit, take it from me, Ongili (Babu Owino) is a trusted friend who has proven his camaraderie interminably through bloom and gloom," she added.
Aoko went missing and was later found at the Kenya-Tanzania border after sharing a series of tweets critical of powerful individuals in government circles.
