Salim Swaleh was fired from Mudavadi's office for allegedly conspiring with others to defraud an engineering consultancy of Ksh5.8 million.

Former NTV Swahili news anchor Salim Swaleh is pleading for job offers months after being fired as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's press director.

In a social media post on Tuesday, November 19, he shared a short video of his suits and expressed that he missed reporting to work.

"I miss putting on my suits and reporting to work every morning. Please offer me a job," he wrote, further tagging accounts of top local media houses.

Swaleh resigned from NTV in October 2022 to pursue a position with the Nakuru County government, nominated by Governor Susan Kihika.

However, his appointment faced legal challenges forcing him to leave after receiving an offer to serve as Director of Press Service in Mudavadi's office.

"I consulted my friends, family, and seniors at Nation with who I had built a rapport. We all came to the conclusion that the National level offer would work," he said in a past interview.

In a shocking turn of events, Swaleh was on June 22, 2024, arrested over allegations of fraud.

He is accused of conspiring with others to defraud an engineering consultancy of approximately Ksh 5.8 million by falsely claiming they could secure a tender for stadium construction.

The arrests were part of a broader investigation into a network of fraudsters impersonating government officials at Mudavadi's office, where they misled foreign victims into paying bribes for favors.

Following the arrest, Swaleh was put on compulsory leave.

The journalist has since expressed remorse and financial distress since his salary was halted, complicating his legal battles and personal circumstances.

In August 2024, Swaleh publicly pleaded for forgiveness from Mudavadi in a deeply emotional video he shared on his social media pages.

He expressed profound remorse and asked for help to rebuild his life.

"Your excellency, you know you have been my father figure for the longest time that I have known you. We have built an unmatched trust between us and for the last one and half years, I served you with unmatched zeal.

"I broke the trust, I did and I am so sorry about it. I am truly remorseful about it and the last one month has been so difficult for me. I have been unable to walk out because of the kind of publicity and the things people said about me just threw me into uncharted territory," he said.
