Kisumu High Court has directed for a medical assessment to be conducted on Victor Ouma who is being charged with the murder of Wells Fargo HR Willis Ayieko.

The court issued the directive on Thursday, November 21, when the suspect appeared before Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Gertrude Serem.

It was noted that the assessment would determine whether the suspect was fit to stand trial for the murder.

Consequently, he will appear before Lady Justice Roselyne Aburili for plea-taking on December 18, 2024.

Meanwhile, while the medical assessment is conducted, the suspect will be held at Kisumu Maximum Prison (Kodiaga).

"Victor Ouma Okoth alias ‘Sisco’ alias ‘Govins’ is facing charges of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code, Chapter 63 Laws of Kenya.

"From the Information filed in Court, Victor Ouma Okoth, jointly with others not yet before the Court is alleged to have murdered the deceased between the night of the 18th and the 23rd October 2024 around Nyamboga Stream at the border of Gem and Khwisero Sub counties within Siaya and Kakamega counties," read the statement by the ODPP.

Victor is one of the suspects who was arrested in connection with the murder of the HR manager.

Following the murder, police have been conducting investigations to establish other accomplices who may have participated in the bizarre incident.

Notably, two suspects who were being sought after by the police were killed in a gunfight involving detectives.
