In August, the President rebranded the Kazi Mtaani programme to Climate WorX in Nairobi.

Under the programme, youth from various parts of the city were tasked with the cleaning and rehabilitation of the Nairobi River.

At the time, Ruto indicated that the programme would create jobs for over 200,000 youth across the country.

"ClimateWorX will focus on youth empowerment and their active involvement in improving infrastructure, including social

housing, constructing footbridges and access roads, and creating essential physical and social amenities," he stated then.

"It will also engage them in environmental stewardship, urban cleanliness, green space development, tree planting, and transforming the areas surrounding our rivers."
