Raila will be facing off with his main rival Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti.

The African Union (AU) has unveiled the programme for the debate of candidates contesting for the African Union Commission chairperson seat. 

In a statement dated Thursday, December 5, the AU announced that the debate will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the African Union Headquarters.

The scheduled to take place at 7 pm and will be broadcast in 6 languages including English and Kiswahili.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be facing off with Mahamoud Ali Youssouf (Djibouti), Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar, and Anil Gayan of Mauritius.

"Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation will provide feed to all public broadcasters in the AU member states and will be able to broadcast the debate live, in any of the 6 AU languages," read the statement in part.

"The broadcast will be available on Satellite Television Multichoice Africa/ DSTV Africa Channel 197 and on the free to Air Channels of National Broadcasters who are also on the DSTV platform."

The debate will also be streamed on AU's website: https://au.int/  and its social media channels on YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

CNBC Africa also expected to broadcast the debate on its YouTube channel: Cnbcafrica410.
