"The Chairman and the KDF family, technical team, players, management, staff, supporters of Ulinzi Stars FC and the entire Ulinzi family express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of our former club's striker Ezekiel Otuoma," the message read.
Otuoma played for several prominent clubs, including Muhoroni Youth, Ulinzi Stars, Western Stima, AFC Leopards and Sony Sugar.
In May 2021, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND), a progressive condition that damages the nervous system, leading to muscle weakness and atrophy.
As the disease advanced, it significantly impaired his speech and mobility, eventually confining him to a wheelchair and necessitating continuous care.
His wife, Rachel Otuoma, stood by him throughout this challenging period, providing unwavering support.
Despite efforts from the football community and well-wishers to support his treatment, Otuoma's health continued to decline leading to his death at the age of 31.
