Throughout the year, the country witnessed several road accidents which claimed the lives of several Kenyans.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), over 1,000 Kenyans lost their lives in road carnages while thousands of others were left injured.
“Analysis of data recorded on Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) reveals that most fatal RTAs occur between 4 pm and 9 pm, with the peak time being around 7 pm,” read the report in part.
“In addition, these occurrences are largely attributed to high volumes of traffic and pedestrians during rush hours; pedestrian crossing at non-designated areas; unmarked roads; driver fatigue; driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs; exceeding speed limits; faulty road engineering conditions.”
