"You cannot be complaining helplessly here on X like the rest of us ordinary citizens."

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has asked Saboti MP Caleb Amisi to initiate a motion in Parliament to censure and hold accountable those responsible for the safety of Kenyans.

In a statement on Monday, December 30, Havi criticized Amisi for complaining on social media about the safety of Kenyans, arguing that, as a lawmaker, he should not act like an ordinary citizen.

"Move a motion in the National Assembly to censure, hold accountable and even impeach those responsible for the safety of Kenyans. That is what you were elected to do. You cannot be complaining helplessly here on X like the rest of us ordinary citizens," Havi remarked.

His remarks followed the legislator's call to end abductions, accusing the government of using unlawful methods to silence critics.

"We must stop the state's excessive use of force and unlawful means of handling critics. This is not a request," Amisi stated.

On December 29, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) expressed concerns over recent reports of abductions, calling for immediate investigations into the incidents.

Consequently, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, directed the Inspector General of Police and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to expedite investigations and submit reports for review and potential action within three days.

"I have, pursuant to Article 157 (4) of the Constitution, directed both the Inspector General of Police and the IPOA to expedite the investigations touching on reported cases of abductions and alleged forced disappearance of citizens, and forward the resultant files for perusal and action, and/or provide an update on the investigations, within three (3) days from the date hereof," Ingonga stated.
