The Kenyan passport has been ranked position 68 in the latest Global Passport Ranking done by Henley and Partners.
In the January 2025 report released on Saturday, January 11, Kenya dropped one position from the ranking announced in January 2024.
This was occasioned by the drop in the number of countries Kenyans can access visa-free.
In 2025, the visa-free score was 74 destinations, a drop from 76 recorded in 2024.

"The Henley Passport Power (HPP) score assesses the 199 countries included on the Henley Passport Index according to the percentage share of global GDP to which their passport holders have visa-free access, by taking into account their visa-free/visa-on-arrival scores out of a possible 227," read the report in part.
"The GDP for the most recent year available for the 227 destinations on the Henley Passport Index was collected from publicly available and national databases."
On the other hand, in the Henley Openness Index 2025, Kenya was ranked among the top countries given the visa-free policy that was initiated by President William Ruto in 2024.
Kenya was ranked first alongside Maldives, Comoro Islands, Burundi, Cape Verde Islands and Samoa alongside others.
"Kenya implemented its eTA in January 2024. Unlike other ETAs, which apply only to vias-free travellers, all travellers to Kenya are eligible to apply for an eTA," read the report in part.
"The eTA application can be completed online and collects biographic information and the traveller’s responses to eligibility questions. The Kenya eTA is valid for 90 days and there is a USD 30 service fee to apply."
