ODM leader Raila Odinga stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised to deliver all Mt Kenya votes on the Building Bridges Initiative.
The ODM leader thanked members of the county assemblies who ensured the constitutional amendment bill 2020 met the required threshold to proceed to the next stage.
“Uhuru had promised that all the 10 Mt Kenya counties will pass the BBI Bill on Tuesday this week. I also indicated to him that the 11 counties making up the western region will adopt the constitutional amendment bill 2020,” he said.
Odinga also insisted that he is not using the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to ascend to power.
Speaking on Friday the former Prime Minister told leaders that only Kenyan voters can decide who will be a resident at the house of the hill.
BBI Campaigns
He dismissed allegations by his political opponents stating that if he decides to run for the presidency he will seek the support of the electoral.
The AU envoy maintained that the decision on who will succeed President Kenyatta will be made by Kenyans through the ballot and not through any other arrangement.
Mr Odinga maintained that pro-BBI leaders will use countrywide campaigns to educate Kenyans on the document in the next few days.
“BBI is now in parliament and it will then go to the people. We will then come to tell you more about the niceties contained in the BBI. BBI is good for this and future generations of our country.” the former Prime Minister said.
