While working to adhere to the set standards, one unidentified school has elicited a lot of reactions online after a video emerged showing an official sanitising students with a knapsack.


On Monday October 12, 2020, Kenyan schools opened their doors for students seven months after they were shut due to the corona virus pandemic.

Students who reported on Monday include; form four, class eight and grade four pupils from across the country.

Speaking at Olympic Primary in Kibra while monitoring the resumption of learning, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha announced that the remaining learners could know when they will re-open in the next two weeks.

“The Ministry will observe the situation in one or two weeks, then we shall recall the other children," Magoha said.

Meanwhile, tough measures have been put by the Ministry to curb  spread of the disease in the learning institutions.

Some of the measures include; wearing of masks sanitising and social distancing.

In the video, students are seen lining up after which the official sprays their hand and backs with the chemical in the knapsack.

The video has caused an uproar online with Kenyans calling for better ways to ensure students are safe.
